ArmInfo. The unprecedented sequence of actions of the Armenian authorities in terms of criminal prosecution and "the vagueness in the issue of citizens' freedom" serves as a tool for their own reproduction. This was written on his Facebook account by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the opposition faction With Honor, in connection with the new charges brought against the third president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.
As Abrahamyan recalled, the new charges were preceded by the failure of the "fuel theft case" and the farce with the assessment of the case of electronic warfare (EW) systems in the amount of 42 million dollars (the case is in connection with the alleged purchase of defective weapons under the third president Serzh Sargsyan for $42 million - ed.).
"These mechanisms were used not only to solve tactical problems, such as maintaining the current image and local elections, but also to achieve strategic goals related to the reproduction of their own power," the MP emphasized, adding that in these cases, the authorities illegally excluded from the process even the judge who acquitted the third president of Armenia.
In this regard, as Abrahamyan explained, the basis for bringing forward a new charge is an attempt to hide the failure of official propaganda and maintain the existing pace of governance, especially in the context of the unprecedentedly low rating of the authorities, given that the current government faces a choice between "life and death".
"Understanding that the old methods have already exhausted themselves, the "attack" was accompanied by the initiation of the process of depriving the member of the Supreme Council of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Taron Margaryan of parliamentary immunity and extending the term of house arrest of the RPA Vice-Chairman Armen Ashotyan. Some political mercenaries from the opposition field have joined the immoral actions of the authorities, who have been publicly "striking blows" against individual figures of the RPA and Serzh Sargsyan for the past 24 years," the oppositionist summed up.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has brought new charges against the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan for the illegal alienation of land plots located near Isakov Avenue and the Yerablur military pantheon in Yerevan. Sargsyan is accused of embezzlement and money laundering on an especially large scale. A preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave was chosen for the third president.
Meanwhile, as the Armenian media write, the lands Serzh Sargsyan is accused of embezzling were alienated back in 2005 and acquired by China. Today, the new Chinese embassy in Yerevan is located on these land plots. It is noteworthy that the plot is located at a considerable distance from the military pantheon.
