ArmInfo. The Strong Armenia faction is convinced that the ideas they propose will lead the country to development and lift 600,000 people out of poverty, as stated by Narek Karapetyan, the head of the Strong Armenia faction, to journalists in the parliament on August 6.
He noted that he opposes turning the National Assembly of Armenia into a platform for airing mutual insults. "Because we are convinced that only a battle of ideas will lead to changes in the country. We must present our ideas to the citizens of Armenia, and they must choose. And we are convinced that the ideas proposed by our faction will specifically lead the country to development and lift 600,000 people out of poverty," Karapetyan emphasized.
The politician also commented on their decision to nominate Aram Vardevanyan for the post of Deputy Speaker, especially given the political party's assertions that this parliament's tenure will be short-lived. According to him, one does not negate the other. "After all, it is precisely as a result of our work and the work of our faction's deputy, Aram Vardevanyan, that we will achieve these changes. It is necessary for work to be carried out from all possible positions," the faction leader explained.
In the event that Vardevanyan's candidacy fails to secure enough votes, he noted that their faction will make a new decision and issue a statement. At the same time, he expressed conviction that the number of deputies from the ruling party is steadily decreasing.
."We see how after each election their numbers are dwindling—we see empty seats. This suggests that in the future, when their numbers are even fewer, it will be possible to implement the very changes we're talking about in the Armenian parliament," Karapetyan concluded.
