ArmInfo. It's important to me that approximately 700,000 Armenian citizens who voted for the opposition rejected Aliyev's Constitution, the surrender of territories, and the campaign against the Church. This was stated by Kristine Vardanyan, an MP from the "Armenia" bloc, during a briefing on June 19, answering journalists' questions.
She also commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that approximately 70% of citizens who voted for the opposition were motivated by election bribes. In this regard, Vardanyan called on voters who supported the opposition to sue the prime minister for slander and demand financial compensation. "If there was anyone who exploited administrative resources and distributed bribes, including state ones, it was Nikol Pashinyan," she said.
Responding to a question about whether the "Armenia" bloc was upset by the fact that its political force received fewer votes in the parliamentary elections compared to 2021, the MP noted that the fact that the opposition front as a whole received greater support than any single political force was far more important.
"Yes, we received more votes in 2021 because, roughly speaking, we were the only alternative. If you think we're upset that we're no longer the only alternative and that having a choice in the opposition field allowed us to increase the number of votes for the opposition by 200,000, even at the expense of our own, then I'm only happy. Even if our votes are fewer, the overall number of supporters and the support for the opposition will be greater," the MP said.
