ArmInfo.    The Baku Court of Appeals upheld the sentences handed down against former military and political leaders of Artsakh, who were sentenced to life imprisonment or 20 years. This was reported by Azerbaijani media, which also published photographs from the court hearing.

ArmInfo. The Association for the Support of Artsakh (ASA) welcomes with deep gratitude the vote of the Assembly of Corsica on July 31 on a resolution demanding the immediate release of 19 Armenian political prisoners from Artsakh held in Azerbaijan and affirming the right of Artsakh Armenians to  return in safety, dignity, and unhindered in accordance with the  provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice,  as noted in  a statement issued by the ASA. 

ArmInfo.  Veronika Zonabend, wife of former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, issued a repeated appeal to the Azerbaijani Ombudsperson and the RA Prime Minister, calling for assistance in organizing an international  women's humanitarian mission to visit Armenian prisoners of war held  in Azerbaijani prisons.

ArmInfo.  The House Foreign Affairs Committee voted 44 to 7 on Wednesday, July 22, to call on Azerbaijan to immediately and unconditionally release all Armenian hostages, adopting an amendment to H.R. 9087, the House Foreign Service Act. The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA)-  backed amendment, led by Congressional Armenian Caucus Vice Chair  Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) with the support of Committee Chairman Brian  Mast (R-FL), builds on its favorable consideration by the Committee  on June 10.

ArmInfo.  A complaint has been filed with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the case of former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister and philanthropist Ruben  Vardanyan, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Azerbaijan.  This was stated in a statement by Siranush Sahakyan, attorney and  president of the Center for International and Comparative Law, who  represents Armenian prisoners at the ECHR. Her statement was  published on Vardanyan's official social media pages. Saakyan stated  that the complaint regarding the case of Ruben Vardanyan, a citizen  of the Republic of Armenia currently held in the Umbaki Penitentiary  Complex in Azerbaijan, was filed with the ECHR on July 19, 2026.

ArmInfo.  Armenian prisoner of war Ludwig Mkrtchyan, held in Azerbaijani captivity since 2020, is fighting for his life amid deteriorating health. Luciana Minasyan, an  Argentine lawyer of Armenian descent and head of the Buenos Aires  branch of the organization SOAR, reported this on her Facebook page.

ArmInfo The US House Foreign Affairs Committee is set to vote on an ANCA-backed amendment - authored by Congressman Brad Sherman - calling for America to apply diplomatic, economic, legal pressure - including full enforcement of Section 907 - to force Azerbaijan's release of Armenian hostages

ArmInfo.In advance of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to Armenia, the Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) welcomes the continued strengthening of U.S.-Armenia relations and sustained high-level engagement between the two countries. At the same time, the Assembly remains deeply concerned by Baku's continued refusal to release all Christian Armenian hostages wrongfully imprisoned in Azerbaijan and urges their immediate and unconditional release.
