ArmInfo.Issues concerning Armenian-Indian defense cooperation were discussed at an August 17 meeting between First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief  of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Edward Asryan and India's Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

ArmInfo. A  fellow serviceman has been detained in connection with the death of Armenian Armed Forces conscript Grigor Zakaryan. Kima Avdalyan, press  secretary of the Armenian Investigative Committee, announced the arrest on her Facebook page.

A solemn rally was held on August 17 at the "Heroes of Oshakan" monument in the Armavir Province to mark the 199th anniversary of the victory of  Russian soldiers and Armenian volunteers over vastly superior forces of the Persian army in the Battle of Oshakan. The ceremony was organized by the NGO "Russia" with the support of the Russian House in Yerevan.

ArmInfo. Armenia recorded a positive net migration balance of 5,200 people in the  first half of 2026, marking a 21.2% year-over-year decline, according  to data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

ArmInfo.  Armenia's population reached 3.104 million as of July 2026, growing by 0.6%  (19,500 people) year-over-year, according to data from the  Statistical Committee of Armenia. This represents a minor  deceleration from the 0.8% growth rate recorded in the previous year.

ArmInfo. The EU assessment mission has provided Armenia with 53 recommendations on legislation and policy development as part of the visa liberalization  process, as stated by Armen Ghazaryan, Acting Deputy Interior Minister of Armenia, during a press conference on August 14.

ArmInfo. The Investigative Committee has completed the preliminary investigation of a criminal case opened against an individual for the theft of 38  million drams across 97 counts.

ArmInfo. On August 14, Converse Bank announced  the commencement of a new $2 million bond issuance for Global Shipping LLC. According to a statement from Converse Bank, the initial placement is scheduled to be concluded on October 30, 2026.  

ArmInfo. No matter how many violations of internal church canons the ruling "Civil Contract" party in Armenia believes it has identified, it has no legal or moral right to interfere in internal church affairs, according to constitutional law expert Gohar Meloyan in her social media post.

ArmInfo. Armenian Lacrosse Co-Founder and Coach Johnny Mouradian is on a road trip in Armenia for 12 days, visiting 12 remarkable locations, and sharing 12 daily Bible reading videos across all six Armenian Lacrosse social media platforms from 11 August through 22 August 2026.

ArmInfo. On August 10, 2026, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made a working visit to the Mary velayat. As part of this visit, he traveled to the Islim-Cheshme border zone in the Serhetabat Etrap, from where he embarked on a working trip to Afghanistan.

ArmInfo. On August 11, President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Armenia, Amal Afifi, on the occasion of Egypt's national holiday, Revolution Day.  According to the presidential press service, Vahagn  Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador and the friendly people of Egypt, asking her to convey his congratulations to Egyptian President  Abdel Fattah el- Sisi.

ArmInfo. Sargis Khandanyan, a member of the ruling "Civil Contract" party and candidate for Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations,  has stated that he does not rule out the possibility of importing natural gas from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
