ArmInfo.  Armenia's population reached 3.104 million as of July 2026, growing by 0.6%  (19,500 people) year-over-year, according to data from the  Statistical Committee of Armenia. This represents a minor  deceleration from the 0.8% growth rate recorded in the previous year.

ArmInfo.  Armenia has undergone a significant demographic transformation, evolving from a  country of net emigration into a hub for international arrivals,  according to Armen Ghazaryan, Acting Deputy Minister of Internal  Affairs. Speaking at a press conference on August 14, 2026, which  reviewed the ministry's performance for the first half of the year,  Ghazaryan stated that interest from foreign nationals in relocating  to Armenia continues to trend upward. "This tendency is not only  persisting but gaining momentum," he emphasized.

ArmInfo. On August 14, Converse Bank announced  the commencement of a new $2 million bond issuance for Global Shipping LLC. According to a statement from Converse Bank, the initial placement is scheduled to be concluded on October 30, 2026.  

ArmInfo. Following the latest revision of the Reference Rate (hereinafter, the “RR”), on August 3, 2026 Ardshinbank reduced the nominal interest rates by 1–2.5 percentage points on 7,779 loans issued based on the RR, with a total outstanding volume of more than AMD 155.7 billion. The change will take effect on September 5, 2026, and will have a significant positive impact on several thousand families, enabling them to save money and reallocate their household expenses.

ArmInfo.  At its August 10 session, the National Assembly of Armenia approved the list and composition of the parliamentary committees of the ninth convocation.  The new convocation will have 12 committees. Sixty deputies voted in  favor of this decision, 15 abstained, and none voted against.

ArmInfo.  As a result of measures taken by Armenian law enforcement agencies, a citizen wanted for approximately 11 years was found and arrested in the Russian  Federation. He was extradited to the Republic of Armenia on June 18,  2026. This was reported in a statement by the RA Investigative  Committee.

From August 10th to 15th, Armenia will be affected by cold and wet cyclones from the Black Sea, resulting in a 4-6 degree drop in air temperatures on August 10th and 11th (compared to August 9th). This was reported on his Facebook page by Gagik Surenyan, Deputy Director of the Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring at the Ministry of Environment.

ArmInfo.  The Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia has announced the solving of a contract killing organized on the orders of the former head of the Artashat community and a former member of the Armenian parliament.

ArmInfo.  In the first half of 2026, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reviewed 1,794 criminal cases of domestic violence (1,482 in 2025), of which 712 were  postponed from 2025, and 1,082 were accepted for review during 2026.  This was stated in a statement by the agency.

ArmInfo.The international Docomomo has condemned the initiative of organization the Armenian government to remove the old building of the Zvartnots airport from the State List of Immovable Historical and Cultural  Monuments of Yerevan and terminate its legal status as an object  subject to protection, as noted in the statement issued by the  Armenian representative office of Docomomo, which is engaged in  documenting and preserving the heritage of architectural modernism of  the 20th century.

ArmInfo.    The Baku Court of Appeals upheld the sentences handed down against former military and political leaders of Artsakh, who were sentenced to life imprisonment or 20 years. This was reported by Azerbaijani media, which also published photographs from the court hearing.

ArmInfo. Despite all the statements, issues of basic human rights in penitentiary institutions (PIs) in Armenia remain pressing.

ArmInfo.On September 15, the Constitutional Court of Armenia will consider the compliance of the TRIPP agreement with the provisions of the RA Constitution.   Constitutional law expert Gohar Meloyan  reported this on her  Facebook page.
