ArmInfo. Alina Hovhannisyan. Holding a  referendum on EU membership is possible only when an alternative has  been formed and the government has answers to all the questions of  interest to the people, as stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan  during a press-briefing on July 30.

ArmInfo. The parliamentary opposition should take the initiative to establish two investigative commissions in the National Assembly of Armenia: one on political  prisoners and another to investigate the abuse of state resources.  This proposal was addressed to the opposition by Armen Ashotyan, Vice  Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), writing from the  Vardashen penitentiary.

ArmInfo. During the first half of 2026, a total of AMD 6,666,631,000  was returned to the recovered funds and single taxpayer accounts through criminal proceedings, according to the RA Prosecutor General's Office.

ArmInfo. According to analyst Tigran Dumikyan, if tensions in Armenian-Russian relations  persist or deepen, the possibility of tightening customs controls,  introducing additional trade restrictions, or revising energy pricing  policies cannot be theoretically ruled out. Referring to the recent  phone conversation between the leaders of Armenia and Russia, the  analyst stated that developments in Armenian-Russian relations in  recent weeks indicate the emergence of a qualitatively new situation  in bilateral relations.

Russia is insisting on a referendum on Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) or the European Union (EU) in order to ascertain the foreign policy choice made by the country. Political analyst and  observer Beniamin Matevosyan expressed this opinion on his Telegram  channel, noting that the necessity of such a move is not entirely  clear to everyone.

ArmInfo. Brussels should not expect the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union to keep Armenia's political crew afloat or sponsor its marathon swim toward the European Union, as noted in a statement released by the press  bureau of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS).
