Opening  of the Armenian Embassy in Oman 

ArmInfo.  Within the framework of the official visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Oman, the official opening ceremony of the Armenian Resident Embassy took place in Muscat on March 18.  

According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the  event was attended by Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud Al-Busaid, Minister of  Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman. The tricolor of the  Republic of Armenia was raised in front of the embassy, the national  anthems of the two countries were played, and after a solemn  ribbon-cutting ceremony, the opening of the embassy was officially  announced.  The Armenian Foreign Minister introduced the Armenian  Embassy to the Omani Foreign Minister, and a short conversation took  place with the participation of delegations from both countries.  The  event was attended by heads of a number of diplomatic missions  accredited in Oman, as well as Armenian citizens residing in Oman. 

In his welcoming speech Minister Ararat Mirzoyan mentioned that  34  years ago, in 1992, just months after Armenia declared its  independence, the Sultanate of Oman became the first Arab state to  establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Armenia. 

"This step, symbolizing a new stage in the development of our  centuries-old cultural and civilizational ties, began a process of  effective and continuous interaction, thanks to which our relations  have reached this significant level today. The decision of the  Government of the Republic of Armenia to establish a permanent  embassy in Muscat not only reflects the effective and meaningful  cooperation established between our two countries, but also clearly  testifies to the consistent deepening of our warm political dialogue.  In addition to its symbolic significance, the opening of the embassy  is also an important practical step aimed at fully realizing the full  potential of our partnership and further strengthening cooperation in  the economic, educational and cultural spheres.

He added that millions of Muslims around the world greet each other  with the greeting "Salaam," meaning peace. According to Mirzoayan, it  is a touching tradition that reflects the common aspiration of  humanity to live in peace and harmony with their neighbors, friends,  families, societies, and the world at large.  "Today, amid the many  painful developments taking place in the region, we once again firmly  reaffirm our belief that peace is the most important foundation for  any development and prosperity. The significant efforts made by the  Sultanate of Oman in recent times to prevent the escalation of  tensions in the region are well known to the world and are admired by  many.

For its part, Armenia is committed to building a peaceful future in  the South Caucasus. After decades of hostility, infrastructure  blockades, and economic hardship, the peoples of our region now have  the opportunity to live in peace, to prosper, and to benefit from  peaceful development and interregional cooperation. These shared  values and understanding are also written into the solid foundations  of the bilateral relations between Armenia and Oman," the Armenian  Minister emphasized.
