Armenian respondents divided on TRIPP - poll

ArmInfo. Armenian respondents are divided on the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project: 47% are against, 44% are in favor. This is according to the results of a poll by the  International Republican Institute (IRI).

When asked whether they support the implementation of the TRIPP  project through Syunik, 34% of respondents said they definitely do  not support it, another 13% said they somewhat do not support it, 24%  said they definitely support it, 20% said they somewhat support it,  5% said they did not listen, and another 4% refused or were  undecided.

Among the drawbacks of this project, 20% cited the negative economic  impact, 16% cited unimpeded access for citizens of enemy countries to  Armenian territory, 7% cited the threat of losing Syunik, and 5%  cited Azerbaijan's new territorial demands on Armenia. It is  noteworthy that 23% found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, 30% of respondents cited economic growth as a  benefit of the project, 19% cited the establishment of peace, 16%  cited the unblocking of communications, 14% cited increased trade,  and 10% cited improved security. Thirteen percent found it difficult  to answer.

According to the graph, supporters of the current Armenian Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan primarily support the project, while  opposition supporters are largely against it.

The survey was conducted by the International Republican Institute  (IRI) Center for Survey Research and BREVIS (represented by IPSC  LLC). Data were collected from February 3 to 13, 2026, using  computer- aided telephone interviews (CATI). The sample consisted of  1,506 citizens of the Republic of Armenia over the age of 18 and  former residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, forcibly displaced from  Nagorno-Karabakh, who currently reside in Armenia (who may or may not  be citizens). Citizens who had lived in Armenia for less than six  months were not included in the sample. Telephone numbers were  selected using random digit dialing (RDD). The survey response rate  is 22%. The margin of error does not exceed +2.5 percentage points  for the entire sample. The sum of numbers in the graphs may differ  from 100 percent due to rounding.

On January 14, the Armenian Foreign Ministry published a framework  document signed with the American side in Washington for the  implementation of the Trump Roadmap for International Peace and  Prosperity (TRIPP). The 12-page document outlines the project's main  objectives and operational mechanisms.

Among other things, the document emphasizes Armenia's intention to  authorize and support the establishment of the TRIPP Development  Company. The company is expected to be responsible for developing the  TRIPP project, receiving an initial development right for a period of  49 years. Armenia intends to offer the United States a 74% stake in  the TRIPP Development Company, retaining 26%. This partnership is  expected to be extended for another 50 years, with an additional  ownership stake granted to the Armenian government, bringing its  stake to 49%.

As a reminder, on August 8, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint  seven-point "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It envisages a  joint appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in  Europe (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk process and related  structures, as well as the creation of a transport corridor through  Armenian territory that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan  exclave, surrounded by Armenia, Turkey and Iran.
