Aram I instructs officials in Middle East to provide maximum  protection for Armenian communities amidst escalating regional  situation

ArmInfo. Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia held a telephone conversation late in the evening of March 3, 2026, with Hovsep Avetyan, a member of the Political Council of the National Central Committee and a  resident of Tehran. Avetyan provided His Holiness with the necessary information on the current situation in Iran in general and in the Armenian community in particular, as reported by the press service of the Great House of Cilicia.

It is noted that according to the information provided, the there are  no casualties in the Armenian community of Iran, only minor material  damage. Diocesan and community officials are closely monitoring the  situation, and youth groups are visiting Armenian neighborhoods,  ready to assist families in need.

 Aram I was also  in  contact with Archbishop Mesrop Sargsyan,  Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the United Arab Emirates and  Qatar.. The Holy Father briefed the Patriarch on the situation in the  aforementioned regions. There are no casualties or material damage.  Contact was also recently established with diocesan and community  officials in Kuwait. The Armenian community in Kuwait has not  suffered any losses.

"Naturally, general uncertainty, ambiguity, and fear reign in all  regions. Our educational institutions remain closed, and classes are  being conducted online. His Holiness instructed those responsible in  all regions to protect our communities as much as possible from  dangerous conditions and to closely monitor the needs and concerns of  our communities.

Aram I also held a telephone conversation with Vardges Mahdesyan, the  state representative of the Armenian community in Cyprus. He  was  briefed on the recent attack on the British military base in Cyprus,"  the statement continued. Last night, the Political Assembly of the  National Central Committee, chaired by the Patriarch, held a special  online meeting to discuss the situation in the Middle East and  explore opportunities to support our communities. Issues related to  southern Lebanon and Beirut, as well as the Israeli attacks on the  Bekaa and their consequences, were addressed.

The Patriarch is closely monitoring the overall situation in Armenian  communities in various regions, and Cilicia TV will provide detailed  information as needed.
