Veolia Djur explains transition to  17 hour water supply schedule in  Armenia

ArmInfo. Veolia Djur, the operator of Armenia's water supply system, has clarified  the  reasons for the transition to a 17-hour water supply schedule  in Yerevan and all regions of Armenia from May 1 to September 16 of this year. 

This initiative has sparked a strongly negative reaction from the  public and the media,  drawing parallels with Electric Networks of  Armenia CJSC.

 "In response to recent press reports and inquiries regarding the  2026 water supply schedule published by Veolia Jur, we would like to  inform you that, in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 134  of the Rules for the Provision of Water Supply and Wastewater  Treatment (Wastewater Treatment) Services, established by the  decision of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic  of Armenia dated November 30, 2016, Veolia Jur CJSC publishes the  subscriber's water supply schedule for the next year on its official  website (veolia.am), so that the subscriber can familiarize  themselves with their water supply schedule. The published water  supply schedule, due to the connection of tens of thousands of new  consumers, may change as needed throughout the year (primarily during  the summer months) depending on changes in weather conditions, the  technical capabilities of the water supply system, a decrease in  water supply volumes by approximately 24%, and a sharp increase in  the number of new water consumers as a result of construction. The  change in the water supply schedule is also aimed at preventing water  losses at night, which helps ensure consumers have a regular water  supply during the day," the company's statement reads.

 It also emphasizes that, within the framework of the agreement  reached with the Water Resources Committee, there are plans for the  ongoing implementation of additional capital programs, with an  approximately threefold increase in investment volume. This will  contribute to a reduction in physical losses, which, in turn, will  increase the water supply volumes to Yerevan subscribers in the  coming years.  Until the completion of the investment programs, the  company is required by law to announce seasonal changes to water  supply schedules at least twice a year. This was implemented in  November 2025 and February 2026.

"We consider it necessary to note that, since the commencement of the  Lease Agreement, no contractual obligations regarding subscriber  water supply schedules have been violated," the company noted.

Recall, Veolia Jur is the sole water supply and wastewater disposal  operator in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia, a subsidiary of the  French Veolia Generale des Eaux. The company has managed the system  since 2017 under a 15-year lease agreement.
