Political scientist comments on Turkish FMs statements 

ArmInfo.  Political scientist and co-founder of the Alternative Projects group Vahe Hovhannisyan responded to statements made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia scheduled for June of this year.

The political scientist, writing on his Facebook page, recalled that  at a press conference on January 15, Fidan primarily expressed hope  for the implementation of the Syunik route in Armenia, as Azerbaijan  desires. Furthermore, the political scientist noted, the minister  stated that "Armenia still has a few things to do," recalling that  parliamentary elections will be held in June 2026. Furthermore, the  political scientist added, Fidan expressed Turkey's support for "the  constructive role of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the  implementation of these issues." "Those who are banging on the doors  of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin and holding false liturgies, the  'reformist' bishops, those who are not involved in politics, those  who say, 'Nikol Pashinyan is bad, but then who is,' who are declaring  a 'hybrid war' against Armenia, and so on-now do you understand what  they are doing to us all with your participation? Or is it  advantageous for you to continue this theater of what your leader  called 'sovereignty'? Is this what you mean by 'sovereign Armenia'?"  Hovhannisyan wrote in this regard.

As a reminder, on January 15, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan  told reporters that elections would be held in Armenia in early June,  which would be an important milestone. Fidan also noted that  Pashinyan currently leads public opinion, and Ankara truly supports  the constructive role he has shown in this matter, adding that this  line, this desire, must continue. The Turkish Foreign Minister also  commented on the route through southern Armenia, expressing hope that  they would see "the Zangezur Corridor implemented as Azerbaijan  desires, because it is important in terms of the Middle Corridor."

Against the backdrop of these statements, Gegham Manukyan, a member  of the Armenian parliament from the opposition "Armenia" faction,  accused the Turkish authorities of interfering in the internal  affairs of the Republic of Armenia. Interestingly, the Armenian  authorities rushed to justify the Turkish minister, assuring that he  in no way supports Pashinyan and certainly does not interfere in  Armenia's internal affairs.
