ArmInfo. Armenia has sufficient weapons to fully utilize Russian Su-30SM fighters, as stated by Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan during a press conference in Yerevan on January 13.
"Today, we have an adequate and certain amount of weapons for the Su-30SM. We also anticipate receiving additional replenishments. The Su-30SM fighters are highly regarded and I value their role. I believe they can play a significant role in ensuring our country's security," the Armenian Defense Minister said.
When asked about the possibility of increasing the number of these combat aircrafts, Papikyan indicated that procurement information would be with held for now. However, he assured that the country's armed forces will continue to acquire modern weapons and equipment.
Recall, Armenia purchased four Su-30SM fighter jets from Russia in late 2019. However, a scandal later emerged when it was revealed that the fighter jets were purchased without their pods.
