Court of Appeal acknowledges that any further delay in Samvel  Karapetyan`s  criminal prosecution  is problematic and leads to  violation of fundamental human rights

ArmInfo.  The Court of Appeal has acknowledged  that further delays in the criminal  proceedings against Samvel Karapetyan, head of the Tashir Group of  Companies, are problematic and lead to a violation of fundamental  human rights, as reported by Karapetyan's lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan.

"On October 16, 2025, the Anti-Corruption Court extended Samvel  Karapetyan's illegal detention for another month. The court  effectively addressed issues with the timing of the criminal  prosecution. The investigative body and the prosecutor's office  directly ignored the court's decision," Vardevanyan wrote on social  media.

Incidentally, both before and after this decision, Karapetyan's  defense clearly addressed this issue in written motions, demanding  that the case be stopped, and at very least, that the use of secrecy  in the preliminary investigation against them be ceased. The lawyers  even petitioned for a separation of part of the proceedings and the  transfer of "the absurd appellate episode to court, or for the  respect of the right and its termination."

"On December 11, 2025, the Court of Appeal, taking into account one  of the demands outlined in our petition, clearly stated that the  delays (delays) in the criminal proceedings against Samvel Karapetyan  are problematic and result in a violation of fundamental human  rights. The same Court of Appeal, which had previously rejected our  complaint in the context of undeniable political persecution,  confirmed this legal stance," Vardevanyan emphasized.

He also reported that motions had been submitted to the Investigative  Body requesting active measures to prevent  delays in the preliminary  investigation, but these motions were denied. "Consequently, the  Investigative Body is not taking any active steps; on the contrary, a  group of 53 investigators is inactive, despite Samvel Karapetyan  being in custody for about six months now, and the only action they  have taken is another "unprecedented" operation, where they searched  the home of a linguistic expert. According to this expert's  conclusion, Samvel Karapetyan's remarks in defense of the AAC did not  contain an appeal," Aram Vardevanyan wrote.
