Armenian, Iraqi presidents discuss broad bilateral agenda

ArmInfo.  A wide range of issues related to the agenda of Armenian-Iraqi bilateral relations were discussed at a meeting in Ashgabat between Armenian President  Vahagn Khachaturyan and his Iraqi counterpart, Abdel-Latif Jamal  Rashid.

According to the press service of the Armenian President, the  interlocutors emphasized the importance of continuous efforts aimed  at the dynamic development of Armenian-Iraqi relations, expanding  political dialogue based on mutual trust, and deepening practical  cooperation.

The parties exchanged views on initiatives implemented to strengthen  regional security, peace, and stability. In this context,  Khachaturyan presented the concept of the "Crossroads of Peace"  initiative, emphasizing the program's broad potential as a pillar of  regional communication, connectivity, and inclusive economic  development.

In this context, the parties noted that regional stability and  connectivity are crucial for expanding transport and economic  opportunities. The importance of implementing the "Trump Route for  Peace and Justice" project and ensuring the full functioning of all  regional communication channels was emphasized.  During the meeting,  particular attention was paid to the potential for cooperation  between the two countries in the energy sector, the effective  implementation of which could represent a significant achievement for  both sides.

The parties attached great importance to expanding bilateral economic  cooperation, emphasizing deepening collaboration in trade,  investment, and other areas of mutual interest, as well as the  ongoing promotion of initiatives aimed at strengthening business  ties.

The organizational and substantive issues of the UN Convention on  Biological Diversity (COP-17), which will be held in Armenia in 2026,  were also discussed. The interlocutors mutually emphasized the  importance of holding such high-level international events as a key  platform for overcoming global environmental challenges and deepening  international cooperation. They also commended the dynamics of  high-level mutual visits and the high level of political dialogue  that has developed in recent years, emphasizing the continued  development of these trends.
