ArmInfo.October is World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the purpose of which is to draw attention to the early detection, treatment, and prevention of this disease. This was announced by RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan at a government meeting on October 16.
According to her, buildings are typically illuminated with billboards and posters on this day. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of breast cancer, which is the most common oncological disease among women.
The minister noted that this year, Armenia launched a screening program, under which beneficiaries of social benefits can receive free medical examinations under the state order. This primarily applies to doctors, teachers, civil servants, and their family members. Mammography services are also free. Avanesyan reiterated the slogan "Checkups can save lives," urging women to undergo medical examinations, which will not only allow for timely detection and treatment of the disease but also allow them to lead a normal life.
In this regard, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed publishing statistical data on the percentage of patients who fully recovered as a result of early diagnosis. He believed this would be a valuable resource for those in need of medical examinations.
Avanesyan noted that the country is seeing a decline in breast cancer mortality in both 2023 and 2024.
