ArmInfo. In Armenia, medical laboratories that lack quality management systems will have their licenses suspended. At its October 15 meeting, the RA National Assembly Committee on Healthcare approved the amendments to the Law "On Medical Care and Public Services," submitted by the RA government for the second and final reading.
Speaking at the committee meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan recalled that a law was passed in 2021 requiring all laboratories to implement quality management systems with a deadline of March 2025. However, various circumstances have arisen since then, preventing all laboratories from implementing these systems.
The amendments stipulate that the licenses of laboratories that have not implemented such systems will be suspended until this gap is addressed. Furthermore, laboratories with international or local certification or accreditation will be exempt from the need to implement additional quality management systems, as they already comply with international standards. The project also provides for the creation of a registry that will consolidate data on all operating laboratories in Armenia. Currently, 131 organizations conducting laboratory activities have already received a positive conclusion from the authorized body on the implementation of quality management systems.
