ArmInfo. Agnessa Khamoyan, MP from the opposition faction "Armenia," has reported the theft of side mirrors from her car. The MP posted a photo of her car with missing mirrors on her Facebook page, along with the following text: "Here it is, Armenia these days. What a behavior. However, I must give credit, the parts were removed gracefully and the car was not seriously damaged."
In a conversation with journalists, Khamoyan stated that she is not the first victim of thieves who have been operating in the country for a long time, noting that many citizens have already approached her with a similar problem. She noted that most of them avoid reporting these cases to the police, because they do not want to get involved in lengthy processes. As Khmoyan explained, according to citizens, only in rare cases do the police manage to identify those who committed the theft. However, she pointed out that the problem lies not in the good secrecy of the burglars, but in the lack of action from law enforcement agencies. "Citizens themselves find those who have robbed their cars. They (the thieves - ed.) demonstratively post stolen spare parts in Telegram channels from 100,000 drams, citizens contact them and negotiate. This is a very big problem that is ignored by the authorities responsible for this," the deputy complained.
Additionally, Khamoyan noted that she was once received a video clearly showing a thief stealing a car parked directly in front of the police building, without a mask and special equipment. But even in this case, as citizens report, the police cannot find this person. "This issue need to be brought to light, as today it has become quite common. I am aware of cases where the same car was robbed twice in three days. In addition to car parts thefts, cases of theft from apartments, as well as the volume of drug distribution, have increased. Meanwhile, the police cannot find the so-called "stashers". Moreover, citizens are offered to contact the thieves themselves and resolve the issue through Telegram channels, stating that this way the problem will be solved much faster," the oppositionist said. According to Khamoyan, this is already a serious problem, and the low crime rates indicated by statistics are likely a result of citizens choosing not to address these issues, realizing how pointless it is.
Note that for several months, deputies have been sounding the alarm and demanding that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia take effective measures to combat car thieves. However, the problem has not yet been resolved.
