Peace on paper - at the expense of the nation: ARF representative on  Washington agreements

ArmInfo.Our people cannot become victims of lies, and it is our duty not to prevent false promises of peace from being used to maintain the current  administration's power, as stated by ARF Dashnaktsutyun representative Armen Rustamyan during a large unity rally  on Freedom  Square, held in honor of the 34th anniversary of Artsakh's declaration of independence.

Referring to the signing of the Washington agreements at the White  House, he noted that all three present got what they wanted: the US  President was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, the head of  Azerbaijan received guarantees for the fulfillment of his demands,  and the Prime Minister of Armenia received peace on paper, which he  needs before the elections like air and water. "And the Armenian  people will pay for all this. Of course, formally, there was a  representative of the Armenian people at this meeting, but there was  no one who would protect the interests of the Armenian people,"   Rustamyan said. 

Meanwhile, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Artsakh, sham trials in  Baku, illegal detention of Armenian hostages, the right of the  Artsakh people to return,  and the occupied territories of Armenia  are completely ignored. Instead, there is an agreement to dissolve  the OSCE Minsk Group and consider withdrawing Armenia's claims in  international courts. This is believed to be necessary for Azerbaijan   to finally close the Artsakh issue and avoid responsibility in the  future. The ARF representative also noted that after all of this,  nothing will prevent Azerbaijan from raising the issue of the return  of the so-called Western Azerbaijanis and demanding compensation from  Armenia. 

Noting that unimpeded communication will be provided through the  territory of Armenia, Rustamyan noted that this will serve the  implementation of the idea of the Turkish corridor significantly  limiting the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia. "As a result,  Armenia as a sovereign entity may lose its significance and become a  battleground for conflicting geopolitical interests," he said. In  conclusion, the ARF representative emphasized that historically, the  main reason for our losses and defeats has been the division of the  Armenian people, and the opposition of their rights and interests. In  this regard, Rustamyan cited the example of the Artsakh Armenians,  when the current government went against the interests and rights of  the Armenians of Artsakh and Armenia, resulting in losses. He called  for unity and struggle, emphasizing that failure to do so would lead  to Turkification.
