Armenian authorities failed to defend country`s territorial integrity  under initialed agreement - MPs 

ArmInfo.  The Armenian side, having initialed the peace agreement with Azerbaijan in Washington, did not record any achievements that would protect the territorial integrity of the country. This is stated in a joint statement by MPs  from the opposition faction "Armenia" Anna Grigoryan, Artur  Khachatryan, Gegham Manukyan and Kristine Vardanyan.

Touching upon the statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of  Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan in an interview with Public Television on  August 27 of this year that the issue of fixing in the agreement a  specific map on which the delimitation and demarcation would be  carried out had allegedly never been discussed with Azerbaijan, he  stated that Mirzoyan was lying.

According to them, initially, during the process of coordinating the  initialed agreement, the Armenian side proposed to adopt the maps of  the Soviet General Staff of 1974-1979 as the basis for delimitation  and demarcation. "However, the Azerbaijani side proposed to use a  general formulation without fixing specific dates of the maps. As can  be seen from the published text of the initialed agreement, Armenia  gave in on this point as well, accepting another demand of  Azerbaijan. This means that the clear outline of Armenia's border is  not fixed by the document," the statement explains. Thus, according  to the deputies, this once again proves that the negotiations are  being conducted according to the logic of fully satisfying  Azerbaijan's demands, and the Armenian side has not recorded any  achievements that would protect the territorial integrity of the  country.

"The only way to refute this statement is to fully publish all the  agreed points. In this case, the complete failure of the current  negotiating "group" will be revealed. The current regime has never  aimed to provide favorable language for Armenians. Their only goal is  to legitimize Azerbaijan's demands and create the illusion of no  alternative in the eyes of the people. This is the essence of the  authorities' actions - to lie, mislead and justify Azerbaijan's  demands," the statement concluded.

On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani  President Ilham Aliyev signed a seven-point joint "Declaration of  Peace" in Washington. It provides for a joint appeal to the  Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to  terminate the OSCE Minsk process and related structures, as well as  the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian territory that  will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave, surrounded by  Armenia, Turkey and Iran. In addition, according to the declaration,  the parties are conducting good faith negotiations between the  relevant border commissions in accordance with the provisions agreed  upon by the commissions, with the aim of concluding an agreement on  the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between them.  The TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, a  42-km road in southern Armenia that will hand over control of the  road to the United States for 99 years) project, according to  experts, is capable of significantly changing the geopolitical  situation in the South Caucasus.
