Team to protect Artsakh Armenians` rights formed in Abovyan 

ArmInfo.A team aimed at protecting the rights of the people of Artsakh has been formed in the city of Abovyan. As reported by the press service of the Council for the Protection of the Rights of the People of Artsakh, the team was formed as a result of a meeting with forcibly displaced residents of Artsakh in Abovyan, which took place on June 19.

During the meeting, the Council presented information on the process  of its formation and activities, as well as the steps taken to date.  The participants in the discussion got acquainted with the results of  the negotiations with the Armenian government and learned about the  upcoming actions and plans of the Council.

"Our compatriots are determined, support the Council and are ready to  participate in the long-term struggle for the joint advancement of  our agenda," the press service noted.

As the Council recalled, a similar team has already been formed in  Masis, and in the coming days, the Council members will continue  their regional visits and discussions with various groups of Artsakh  residents. Thus, the next meeting is scheduled for June 21 at 11:00  in the "Hayordats House" of Echmiadzin, located next to the Church of  St. Gayane. According to the source, after the completion of these  meetings, the Council will announce its upcoming actions on June 23.

On March 29, a rally was held at Freedom Square in Yerevan for the  rights of the people of Artsakh to collective return, a dignified and  safe life in their homeland, for ensuring socio-economic rights in  Armenia, for efforts to return captives and protect the cultural  heritage of Artsakh. In connection with the preparation for the  rally, a special Council was formed, which included representatives  of public organizations of Artsakh, parliamentary forces and  individuals. The Council set up a tent at Freedom Square, where  meetings were periodically held with various public and political  figures and political forces.  The latest negotiations of the Council  resulted in the extension of social assistance to the people of  Artsakh for only two months, on the condition that the Council  removes its tent from the square. At the moment, there is a risk that  many people of Artsakh may be left homeless due to the termination of  social assistance.
