ArmInfo. If the clash between Iran and Israel continues and escalates into a full-scale war, there is a risk that Syunik will become one of the likely points of pressure on Iran. This is written by candidate of historical sciences, Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan.
He recalled that just a few hours ago, Israel carried out airstrikes on Iranian territory neighboring Armenia. According to the expert, Tehran, Tabriz and other populated areas, including military and nuclear infrastructure, were hit. "According to information that has not yet been fully confirmed, many high- ranking Iranian military personnel and physicists involved in nuclear issues were killed as a result of the attacks," Geghamyan added.
According to the expert, the situation in the region is tense and could lead to new clashes and the threat of a full-scale war. He noted that the airspace of Iran and a number of neighboring countries is effectively closed. In this regard, the Turkologist addressed the possible consequences for Armenia. He emphasized that if the strikes continue and escalate into a full-scale conflict, there is a risk of pressure on Iran through Syunik, which will be beneficial to Azerbaijan.
Geghamyan also recalled that in recent months, Israel has supplied weapons and ammunition to Azerbaijan. At the same time, the Turkish armed forces are in Nakhichevan under the pretext of exercises and will be there until at least the end of June, which creates additional pressure on the western part of Syunik.
"Figuratively speaking, Armenia is sitting on a powder keg, while the smell of gunpowder is hidden from our society. Instead, cheap perfumes such as investments and education are "sprayed" daily - thereby weakening national institutions.

Recall that on the night of June 13, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a "preventive" strike on the "Iran nuclear program." The Israeli Air Force attacked at least six military bases near Tehran. According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the Israeli strikes killed General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, a nuclear scientist and president of the Islamic Free University, and Fereydoon Abbasi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. A state of emergency has been declared in Israel, and gatherings, education, and work at enterprises have been banned. Defense Minister Israel Katz explained the measure by a possible retaliatory strike by Iran.
