Armenian NA not place for insults - MP

ArmInfo.  The Armenian  authorities do not intend to resort to vendetta against the representatives of the previous government. This was stated by the secretary of the ruling faction of the Civil Contract party Artur  Hovhannisyan during a briefing in the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia on May 16, commenting on the question of whether  the statement of the NA deputy Arsen Torosyan about a political  vendetta could mean the beginning of a new process against the  opposition.

The chairman of the parliamentary committee on health issues Arsen  Torosyan stated in his microblog that there will be a political  vendetta in the country. "Yes, one cannot curse either from the  National Assembly rostrum, or in the National Assembly meeting room,  or anywhere else. In the same way, we cannot allow some scoundrels to  curse people for their political statements, when these same people  patiently listen to statements of the same content from these  scoundrels. From now on and always there will be a political vendetta  against everyone who behaves like a scoundrel in politics," Torosyan  wrote.

In this regard, as Artur Hovhannisyan noted, apparently his colleague  was referring to the ruling party's political promises to bring the  matter to a logical conclusion. "All our current opponents in the  National Assembly of the Republic will leave the political arena.  Arsen Torosyan is a member of our team, a member of the board of our  party, and together with us he fights against those people who are  accused of various shady deeds. Therefore, I ask you not to equate  political vendetta with just vendetta," the faction secretary noted.

Answering the question of whether the ruling faction is ready to  obstruct Arsen Torosyan for his speech in response to the statements  of Levon Kocharyan, a member of the National Assembly from the  opposition faction "Armenia", the son of the second President of the  Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, Hovhannisyan called not to  compare the two speeches.

"The attacks that were made are not the same. Levon Kocharyan,  throughout his speech in the National Assembly of the Republic of  Armenia, standing behind the backs of the women of his faction, used  swear words of a sexual nature. But it is also obvious that it was  impossible to make harsh statements in response, either from me or  from Arsen Torosyan and other deputies from the ruling party. In any  case, there were swear words of a sexual nature, to which responses  were made," Artur Hovhannisyan emphasized.

In turn, Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly  Committee on Economic Issues, pointed out the characteristic use of  swear words in the Armenian lexicon. According to him, even the word  "respected" can be perceived as an insult. However, as the MP noted,  it is unacceptable when the meeting room turns into a squabble, and  even more so, using such expressions. "In fact, our opposition in its  activities is aimed at generating such situations. During the  scuffle, I approached Seyran Ohanyan and Artsvik Minasyan, to whom I  directly stated that the opposition factions were provoking the  situation," Tunyan noted.

He added that the opposition MPs together received salaries totaling  1.5 billion drams over 4 years. And here the question arises as to  why taxpayers pay them such a sum.
