Gyumri, Parakar election results show people`s real attitude to  authorities 

ArmInfo. The results of the local government elections in the communities of Gyumri and Parakar showed the real attitude of the Armenian people towards the authorities in  Armenia. This was written on his Facebook page by the former  Ombudsman of Armenia, head of the Tatoyan Foundation Arman Tatoyan,  commenting on the preliminary results of the elections in Gyumri and  Parakar held on March 30.

As Tatoyan recalled, during the televised debates held on March 27,  the candidate of the ruling party allowed himself to denigrate  Artsakh and neglect the exploits of Armenian heroes. In this regard,  as the former Ombudsman of Armenia emphasized, thanks to the  dignified reaction of the citizens, this vicious thinking did not  receive support. According to him, the elections to the Council of  Elders in these two communities actually became a struggle for the  preservation of Armenian statehood and the values of the Armenian  people.

"The power of the ruling Civil Contract party is fueled by divisions  among people inside Armenia and the Diaspora, hatred for each other  and chaos. Insulting dignity, swearing, especially in an arrogant and  public form, is one of their main weapons," Tatoyan emphasized.

In this vein, the head of the Tatoyan Foundation assured that the  main resistance in the fight against the current government will be  the solidarity of the Armenian people, the preservation of cherished  values, respect for each other's dignity and rights, as well as the  unwillingness to renounce the Armenian mentality.

On March 30 of this year, early elections were held to the Council of  Elders of Gyumri in the Shirak region and Parakar in the Armavir  region. According to preliminary calculations, the ruling Civil  Contract party is in the lead in Gyumri, having gained 35.47% of the  votes, followed by the Communist Party of Armenia (18.41%), and the  Our City bloc (16.04%). Despite the fact that the representative of  the ruling force gained the largest number of votes, nevertheless,  his political force did not overcome the necessary 50+1 vote  threshold for the sole election of the mayor. Thus, if the opposition  forces form a coalition, Gyumri may have an opposition mayor. In  Parakar, according to preliminary data, candidate Volodya Grigoryan  from the Unity bloc won, having secured the support of more than 56%  of voters.
