No incidents involving use of firearms on ZCMC premises - statement 

ArmInfo.. There were no incidents involving the use of firearms on the territory of the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC). This is stated in a statement by the company in connection with the report that a fight  broke out between ZCMC employees and shots were heard.

"Based on the above, the company cannot comment on the information  provided by the police regarding the incident that occurred outside  the territory of ZCMC," ZCMC added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia told ArmInfo  that a fight broke out between ZCMK employees near the tailings dam  in Kajaran. The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that the police  arrived at the scene and prevented any further developments in the  situation. "At the moment, 8 people have been detained," the Ministry  of Internal Affairs emphasized.

Information is being circulated in the Armenian segment of social  networks that a fight broke out between striking employees of the  company and those who oppose the strike.

Since the end of last week, some of the ZMMK employees have announced  a strike and are demanding a 50% salary increase. ZMMK CJSC has  assessed these demands as unrealistic, and the actions of the  strikers as going beyond the Labor Code.

For the third year in a row, the list of 1,000 large taxpayers in  Armenia has been headed by the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Plant.  The company has sent about 102 billion drams to the state treasury  for 2024 (with an annual growth of 44%), of which 2.2 billion drams  are customs duties, 30.2 billion drams are direct taxes (including  profit tax, income tax), 2.7 billion drams are indirect taxes  (including VAT, excise tax).

In December last year, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported on  his Facebook page that ZMMC transferred 33 billion 249 million drams  to the state budget as government dividends. "Please note that this  is plus the taxes paid as a share of the profit, because since 2021  the government is a shareholder of ZMMC, as I promised," the Prime  Minister noted.

Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine CJSC (ZMMC) is the largest mining  company in Armenia. The plant operates the Kajaran copper-molybdenum  deposit. The plant's ore supply is about 150 years.
