: Baku responds to  Pashinyan

ArmInfo. Aykhan Hajizada, the Head of the Press Service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, assured that the allegations made by RA Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan yesterday in the Armenian parliament regarding territorial  claims against Armenia in the Constitution of Azerbaijan have no  ground.

The day before, Nikol Pashinyan stated in the Armenian parliament  that the Constitution of Azerbaijan contains territorial claims  against Armenia. However, Armenia does not raise the issue of  amending the Constitution for two reasons. Firstly, as the Prime  Minister pointed out, this will lead the Armenian- Azerbaijani peace  process to a dead end. Secondly, in the agreed part of the text of  the peace treaty, there is an article according to which the parties  cannot refer to domestic legislation to justify the failure to  implement this agreement. <Another article of the peace treaty states  that the parties recognize each other's territorial integrity, have  no territorial claims and undertake not to make them in the future>,  Pashinyan said.

<This allegation is a futile balancing act and an attempt to  overlook/ignore the claims towards the territorial integrity of  Azerbaijan>, Hajizada wrote on the social network X.  The  representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry added that Nikol  Pashinyan is thereby trying to mislead the international community.   Baku did not miss the opportunity to once again accuse Armenia of  territorial claims, stating that the Declaration of Independence of  the Republic of Armenia aims for a reunification of Armenia and  Nagorno- Karabakh, <and calls some territories of Turkey  as <Western  Armenia>.

 "All these legislations demonstrate that Armenia has never  recognized <Nagorno-Karabakh> as part of Azerbaijan. Therefore,  statements that Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity and  sovereignty of Azerbaijan have no legal ground until Armenia makes  changes to its Constitution and renounces all the legal and political  acts that reflect its claims to Azerbaijan," the Azerbaijani diplomat  noted.  Nevertheless, the representative of the diplomatic department  emphasized that "historical facts cannot be distorted." <As for the  regions demonstrated in the map submitted to the 1919 Peace  Conference ( Armenian Prime Minister has defined them as Syunik,  Vayots Dzor Provinces of Armenia fully included in Azerbaijan, as  well as the territories of the Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Tavush,  Shirak and Lori provinces included in part), in order not to falsify  the historical facts, it is necessary to recall the dates these  regions were officially included in Armenia, which are long after the  map of Azerbaijan was submitted  to the Entente: Syunik (Zangezur) -  30 November, 1920, and Vayots Dzor (Derelayaz) - 10 August, 1920.  When it comes to the other regions enumerated by the Prime Minister,  most of their parts were included in Soviet Armenia by altered  administrative divisions, that also in some cases  violated  international treaties, such as the Moscow Treaty of March 16, 1921>,  the press secretary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry noted. And  despite the fact that, according to the Baku diplomat, < all these  historical facts could be proven with the official documents>,  does  not mean that Azerbaijan has territorial claims against Armenia.
