ArmInfo. Belarus is not going to worsen relations with Armenia. Spokesperson of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Anatoly Glaz told journalists. "It is important to understand that we have long-standing close, friendly relations and a common history with Armenia, and also mutually beneficial trade, as well as close business contacts as of today.
We are not going to worsen these relations, no matter how much external players push the Armenian leadership to do so. We have never done anything to harm our friends, we do not interfere in their internal affairs, we respect the Armenian people and sincerely wish them leaders who will truly think about the future of the country and the well-being of the people," Anatoly Glaz emphasized, BELTA reports.
At the same time, he informed that Belarus is recalling its ambassador to Armenia for consultations. "We all see how difficult the domestic political situation is today in Armenia, how rapidly the confrontation within the country is escalating. And different people, of course, have different resistance to serious emotional stress. We can understand this. But we do not understand what Belarus has to do with it," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson asked.
According to him, a representative of the Armenian embassy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry to try to clarify this issue. "Considering the development of the situation, our ambassador from Yerevan will also arrive in Minsk in the near future," said Anatoly Glaz.
He emphasized that if someone in Armenia has decided to divert attention from internal problems in the guise of an external enemy, then it is a very short-sighted position.
Today Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said from the rostrum of parliament that he will never visit Belarus again as long as Alexander Lukashenko is president. He justified his words by the fact that one of the leaders of the CSTO member countries recently stated that during the 44-day war his country participated, believed in and wished for Azerbaijan's victory. "And you want me to go to Belarus after that and discuss issues related to the CSTO with the president of that country?" the RA Prime Minister asked, noting that Armenia intends to leave the CSTO. Following this statement, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that Yerevan had recalled its ambassador from Belarus for consultations.
