Driver blocks one of Yerevan`s tangled roads

ArmInfo. Protests against unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan continue in Armenia.  Moreover, these actions sometimes begin to acquire a spontaneous character.

Today, April 26, the ArmInfo correspondent witnessed an unusual  action on Azatutyan Street in Yerevan.  The truck driver blocked the  entire road leading to Saralanji Street with his car. As a result,  cars passing by were forced to make a short detour.

Police arriving at the scene are trying to convince the driver to  leave the street.

The country has been swept by protests since April 25, when the  process of delimiting borders with Azerbaijan in the Tavush region of  the republic began. According to the government press service, as of  April 25, 20 border pillars have already been installed. On April 19,  the commissions for the delimitation of the state border between  Armenia and Azerbaijan preliminary agreed on the passage of  individual sections of the border line directly between the  settlements Baganis (Armenia) - Baganis Ayrum (Azerbaijan), Voskepar  (Armenia) - Ashagi Askipara (Azerbaijan), Kirants (Armenia) -  Kheyrimli ( Azerbaijan) and Berkaber (Armenia) - Kyzyl Hajily  (Azerbaijan), with the aim of bringing them into line with the  legally valid inter-republican border that existed within the Soviet  Union at the time of its collapse.

The protocol must be agreed upon and signed by the parties before May  15, 2024. The Department of Information and Public Relations of the  Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia explained that the  cartographic basis of the process is the latest topographic maps from  the USSR, "which have a legal basis and were compiled by bodies with  the appropriate competence."

The first border pillar on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan was  installed on April 23, 2024, based on geodetic measurements as part  of clarifying the coordinates.
