Political analyst:  only way to change situation in Armenia is  extraordinary parliamentary elections

ArmInfo.The only way to change the situation in Armenia and around it is to hold early parliamentary elections. Political analyst Suren Surenyants told ArmInfo, commenting on the demands of the President of Azerbaijan on  Armenia.

According to the political scientist, holding early parliamentary  elections is the most realistic way out of the current situation for  a civilized change of power in Armenia, otherwise the country will  plunge into chaos.  Surenyants emphasized that from time to time RA  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan throws the questions that Aliyev  voices into the public arena.

For example, in February, the main issue on the agenda was the  discussion of the Prime Minister's initiative on the adoption of the  new Constitution. Then the thesis was voiced that otherwise the  country's position would be significantly weakened. Now, as the  political scientist continued, the second stage begins, during which  the issue of territories is raised. "Be sure that the Azerbaijani  authorities will never give up their claims. I would like to remind  you that yesterday Aliyev spoke not only about the Constitution, he  also demanded the opening of transport communications to ensure  communication with Nakhichevan, and demanded that Yerevan to stop  buying weapons," he said, adding that the country has entered a very  difficult cycle, when, amid the agreement of the Armenian authorities  to satisfy certain demands of Baku, Aliyev, whose appetites are  growing day by day, comes forward with new demands.

The political scientist noted that in total Azerbaijan puts forward  5-6 demands, in response to which Pashinyan, instead of having a  frank conversation with the people, turned into a person who fulfills  all these demands, guided by the thesis that either we fulfill them  or war breaks out. "In this situation, what worries me most is the  formation of uncontrollable chaos in the country, which we are  witnessing. Road closures, yesterday's incident with the first lady  in Tsitsernakaberd, repressions, forceful pressure are the first  signs of the emergence of uncontrollable chaos, which will deepen if  political solutions are not found, the most civilized of which is  holding early parliamentary elections to change power. I personally  don't see any other options for solving existing problems," the  political scientist said.

He noted that if we were talking about mutual concessions, the  country's public would understand this, but in this case we are  talking exclusively about unilateral concessions, which causes  popular indignation.  Surenyants believes that the current  instability in the country will worsen. "This is inevitable, the  Armenian people, despite the defeat in the 44-day war, will never  come to terms with their humiliated state. 

Moreover, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Today we are  talking about four villages, tomorrow - about the Constitution, the  day after tomorrow - about reducing the number of armed forces. Both  you and I understand perfectly well that such a development of events  will lead to an explosive situation, and in order to avoid it, it  would be a very civilized step to hold early parliamentary elections,  as a result of which the power in the country will change, and the  risks will be manageable ", the political scientist summarized.   Yesterday, speaking at the ADA University, the President of  Azerbaijan once again made threats against Armenia. He stated that  the peace treaty will not be signed unless Yerevan changes the  Constitution, agrees to transport links with Nakhichevan, and stops  to rearm its army. Moreover, Aliyev also stated that 12 km of  sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border have already been  delimited.

Against this background, the Armenian authorities, who, by the way,  have not yet responded to these demands, continue to make attempts to  carry out the process of border delimitation in the Tavush region of  the republic. At the same time, skirmishes and clashes occur with  protest participants who are outraged by the possibility of  transferring four villages of the region to the control of Azerbaijan  without receiving anything in return, including the liberation of 200  km of occupied territories of the Armenian state.
