Thus, today the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted a  "quite remarkable" document:  "Declaration on the return of "Western  Azerbaijanis" to their historical homeland".

According to this document, Azerbaijanis, no more, no less, 'have  lived in the territory of Armenia for centuries'. "Historical  documents and maps prove that the majority of the population living  here were Azerbaijanis," the document states.

At the same time, the document in no way explains how the  representatives of the state founded only 100 years ago, could live  in this area for centuries and even form a majority.

With such initiatives, Azerbaijan is trying to gradually legitimize  its territorial claims to the historical sovereign territories of  Armenia. All this is happening against the background of the silence  of the Armenian authorities and the international community, which  ignored the de-Armenization of Artsakh and the expulsion of the  entire Armenian indigenous population living on these lands for a  millennium.

ArmInfo also contacted the Armenian Foreign Ministry with a request  to comment on these actions of Azerbaijan. At the time of publication  of the article, the foreign policy department s not yet given any  response.
