Lavrov: Trilateral statement of November 9, 2020 does not provide for  establishment of checkpoint in Lachin corridor

The conditions of operation of the Lachin Corridor should fully comply with the provisions of the very first tripartite statement on November 9-10, 2020.  Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this on February 28 at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, referring to the Azerbaijani side's proposal to establish a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor.

It does not  provide for the establishment of any checkpoints, however, it is  possible to rule out doubts by technical means that the corridor is  really being used for its intended purpose," Lavrov said, adding that  he touched on this issue during negotiations with his Azerbaijani  counterpart.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani side, under a far-fetched  pretext, has been blockading for 78 days the only road connecting  Nagorno-Karabakh with the outside world. And in Munich, the head of  Azerbaijan said that he proposed to the Armenian side to establish a  checkpoint in the Lachin corridor. The Armenian Foreign Minister  stated that all the regulations along the corridor are stipulated in  a tripartite statement dated November 9, 2020, and Yerevan does not  intend to participate in any additional negotiations on this issue.
