
ArmInfo. On October 14, the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan was held in Astana. According to the press service of the RA MFA, the parties the sides discussed the implementation process of the agreements reached by the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, touched upon the work within the framework of the commissions on border delimitation and border security, as well as in the direction of unblocking economic communications and transport infrastructures in the region.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on the development of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the immediate release of all Armenian prisoners of war and the unconditional observance of the ceasefire regime. The introduction of international mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the border situation was highlighted in terms of preventing new aggressions.
Meanwhile, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Jeyhun Bayramov at the meeting recalled that the last meeting in this format was held in Dushanbe in May this year, and noted that the current meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the progress made since Dushanbe. In particular, he said that on October 2, a bilateral meeting on the peace agreement was held in Geneva, where Azerbaijan presented the main elements of the peace treaty to Armenia, and they expect Armenia's response Taking into account the fact that the basic principles of the peace agreement were presented by Azerbaijan in February this year, and following the four-party meeting in Prague, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on mutual recognition and respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, which is the basis of the peace agreement, it was emphasized that that this is perceived as progress towards signing an agreement. Bayramov noted that it is important to start practical work on opening communications based on the progress made during the negotiations in the trilateral working group. It is reported that delimitation commissions have already been established, two meetings have been held so far. It was also noted that a third meeting is planned to be held in the near future. It was stated that Azerbaijan is in favor of carrying out work in this process in specific areas. He drew attention to the importance of the comprehensive implementation of the tripartite statements, but kept silent about the fact that it is Azerbaijan that is torpedoing the implementation of the basic principles of these agreements.
