Office of Human Rights Defender refutes information about resignation  of Arman Tatoyan

The Office of the Human Rights Defender refutes the information about the resignation of Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, which is spread in social networks.  "The  information about the resignation of the Ombudsman of Armenia does  not correspond to reality. The Ombudsman has nothing to do with any  political processes, he acts exclusively on the principle of  professional, apolitical work," said the press secretary of the  Ombudsman Nune Hovsepyan.

To note, yesterday at the meeting of the National Assembly of  Armenia, during the discussion of the annual report on the work done  by the Ombudsman's office for 2020, a verbal skirmish took place  between the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan and the MP from the  ruling "My Step" Anna Karapetyan. The latter tried to criticize  Tatoyan's activities and accused him of media terror.

"Since December 17, Mr. Tatoyan, you have regularly signaled about  delimitation and demarcation, as if such a process had actually taken  place. For example, on December 17, you stated that the anxiety and  anger of the residents of the border villages of Kapan, Goris and  other cities of the Syunik region of Armenia, including those related  to the process of delimitation and demarcation in the region, have  real grounds. That is, you actually justified the manifestation of  this anger on the part of the people of Syunik, "Karapetyan said.

The Karapetyan's words forced Tatoyan to sharply answer the MP. In  particular, he said: "I say that Azerbaijanis threaten, disseminate  information, our residents, who have cadastral documents, have lost  their land plots. You tell me that on the 15th I used the word"  delimitation ", on the 17th I used the word" demarcation " Is this  the protection of the rights of the citizens of Armenia? Let's go  together and see what is happening at the border. Did you go from  Goris to Shurnukh or from Kapan to the front part of the village? "

The Ombudsman of Armenia also criticized the behavior of government  officials who use foul language on social media. He stressed that  people with such social responsibility do not have the right to hold  public office.
