Stanislav Tarasov: President of Azerbaijan today will not take any  serious actions on the Karabakh front

ArmInfo.There is a point of view that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, is trying to divert attention from Idlib, provoking tension in Karabakh. The political  scientist Stanislav Tarasov said this in an interview with ArmInfo  correspondent, answering the question whether tension in Syria could  affect the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The expert noted that Aliyev is not such an adventurer as Turkish  President Recep Erdogan, and he will not take any serious actions on  the Karabakh front. "Turkey has other problems now. It is fighting in  Syria, in Iraq, in Lebanon, and now it's not at all up to Karabakh,"  Tarasov emphasized.  Touching on the results of yesterday's talks  between Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart  Recep Erdogan, the expert said: "An armistice agreement was signed,  which includes 3 points.  The fact that the Foreign Minister  presented the agreement signed by the Minister of Defense is a kind  of cross on diplomacy. There is a point of view that yesterday an  option was adopted that would stop the bloodshed, but it is  intermediate. According to Tarasov, 3 scenarios are possible in the Syrian  settlement. "The first scenario involves freezing the situation with  Idlib, the second option is dividing the province into zones of  influence, and finally, according to the third, Turkey and Russia  will establish joint control over Idlib. But this is very difficult,  because there are a lot of terrorists concentrated in Idlib, and it's  not clear what to do with them.  It's one thing to destroy them, as  the Americans did in Allepo and completely another- squeezing them  out, but there is a question is, where? ", the expert noted.  Tarasov  emphasized that such a scenario could also provoke another wave of  refugees that will flood into Turkey. "Idlib is an important  strategic point for Turkey.
