Lynn Tracy: US Contributes to Armenia`s Efforts to Form  Anti-Corruption Court and Committee

ArmInfo. The level of  Armenian-American relations satisfies Washington. The US Ambassador  to Armenia Lynn Tracy said this in an interview with Civilnet,  referring to the reforms envisaged in Armenia and bilateral  cooperation.

Moreover, she assured that over the past year and a half, new  prospects for cooperation have opened up under the new Armenian  government. "I would like to state with pleasure that over the past  year we have been able to achieve that US assistance to Armenia  increased by 40% compared to the same period last year, and these  funds will be used to promote reforms carried out by the Armenian  executive body. the areas that are in the focus of our attention are  those areas where the government is taking active steps, in  particular the area of justice, where we are working to promote  anti-corruption efforts, "the American diplomat said, adding that  they promote otam of formation of anti-corruption court and the  committee.  However, she emphasized that the parties cooperate in  other areas and intend to further expand cooperation, and tourism,  where USAID is actively involved, is considered a priority area. In  this context, Tracy recalled that according to statistics, the number  of tourists visiting Armenia increased by 14.5% this year, and there  are quite promising prospects for cooperation. Another area for  cooperation, the ambassador indicated the sphere of agribusiness,  where the United States intends to further develop its activities.

Speaking about the activities of the Government of the Republic of  Armenia, the Ambassador noted that the results of the reforms are  manifested in different ways, and one of the tangible results is the  construction of roads in the republic, which is being carried out at  a fast pace and which positively affects people's lives.

Having shared her views on the functions of the anti-corruption court  and the committee, Tracy noted that the goal of these two structures  is to fight high-level corruption in the government. According to  her, another area of activity is the conduct of retraining courses  for police officers, justice officials, and judges who are aimed at  ensuring the necessary institutional changes and contributing to the  implementation of the vector of the RA government to ensure openness  and transparency.
