Pashinyan at the "Forming the Future of Democracy" thematic forum:  Press in Armenia is free today as never before

ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan spoke at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos at a thematic forum entitled "Shaping the Future of Democracy".  President of Colombia Ivan Duque Marquez, Prime Minister of Nepal  Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, New York Times publisher Arthur Greg  Salzberger and Director General of the Management Today project  Danielie Ballou Aares spoke as speakers for the discussion. The  moderator was the journal's deputy editor and The Financial Times  chief economist Martin Wolf.

According to the press service of the  Prime Minister's office, to the moderator's question, Pashinyan said  that a month earlier, parliamentary elections were held in Armenia,  which were recognized as democratic, free and transparent. According  to Pashinyan, Armenia has recorded successes in this direction, at  the same time the republic faces important challenges, in particular,  economic support for democracy.The premier noted that Armenia plans  to introduce a new category in entrepreneurship - micro business. By  freeing this category of entrepreneurs from taxes, as Pashinyan  pointed out, the Cabinet makes it clear to citizens that they too  should take part in the economic growth of the country, overcoming  poverty and creating real opportunities. "We hope to attract new  foreign investments, because we believe that we can fight corruption,  establish real legislative imperatives and we are ready to  periodically simplify the field for attracting new investments," he  said.

Touching upon the freedom of the media, Nikol Pashinyan stated that  the press in Armenia is free today as never before. "But not all  journalists agree with me," he pointed out. Pashinyan expressed  confidence that full transparency in the activities of government  officials and organizations will increase public confidence in  politicians. Speaking about social networks in the modern world,  Pashinyan noted that the revolution in Armenia was accomplished using  social networks, and he continues to broadcast live on his Facebook  page, for which he is criticized. The head of the Armenian government  also touched upon the problem of fake news and how it may affect the  election results, which is a big problem today.
