Prosecutor General`s Office: disgraced General Mikael Harutyunyan  still not found

ArmInfo.As of November 28, law enforcement agencies do not have information about the location of the former Defense Minister, former Chief Military Inspector of the  Republic of Armenia, Mikayel Harutyunyan, who was wanted in early  July this year. as part of the "March 1" case. This was stated by the  Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan in an interview with  journalists.

According to him, Mikael Harutyunyan has not yet been discovered.  Armenia clarifies the issue of citizenship of the former head of the  General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Mikael  Harutyunyan.

Commenting on the fact that Russia had previously declared  Harutyunyan's Russian citizenship and, accordingly, the impossibility  of transferring it to another country, Davtyan said that there was no  official communication from the Russian side.

Recall that in connection with the investigation of the events that  took place from March 1 to March 2, 2008 in Armenia, on July 3, a  criminal case was initiated against former Defense Minister Mikayel  Harutyunyan and other persons in connection with the violent  overthrow of the constitutional order in Armenia February 23 to March  1, 2008. As reported by the press service of the Special  Investigation Service, Mikael Harutyunyan and other high-ranking  officials, violating the Armenian Constitution, declared martial law,  using armed forces to resolve domestic political issues and against  peaceful demonstrators. On August 31, Interfax, citing an informed  source, said that the request for the extradition of the ex-Minister  of Defense Harutyunyan, who was on the interstate wanted list, had  been received by law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation  and is currently under consideration. "It was previously decided that  extradition would be denied because it was established that Mikael  Harutyunyan had a Russian passport since 2002," the source said,  reminding that, according to the Constitution of the Russian  Federation, Russian citizens are not issued to foreign countries,  including for criminal prosecution. On September 14, the head of the  Armenian police, Valery Osipyan, told reporters that he did not know  that the former defense minister, now accused of overthrowing the  constitutional order, Mikael Harutyunyan is a citizen of the Russian  Federation. According to him, he learned about it, when Russia  canceled the international search for Mikael Harutyunyan on its  territory by sending a notification to the RA Police.
