Macron: Aznavour was an Armenian, who fully acknowledged the great  crime, the Genocide, a victim of which he himself was

French President Emmanuel Macron stated  this on October 11 at the opening of the 17th Summit of the  International Organization of Francophonie, expressing gratitude to  Armenia for organizing the event at the highest level, noting that  this is a very symbolic event for Yerevan.

The word ''Armenia'' causes very delicate emotions in the souls of  the French people.  Armenia is associated with a nation whose  representatives occupy an important place in the life of France, who  love our country immensely. And France opened its arms to these  people. Macron stressed that the legendary crooner was a symbol of  Armenia, France and Francophonie. He was a huge talent of singing,  who sang about our happiness, misfortunes, our light approaches  toward life. He sang with a unique sadness, specific for people  living in wandering. We all know that he is Armenian, he was singing  and preserving Armenian identity, was sending humanitarian aid to  genocide victims, was encouraging courage. By fully acknowledging the  great crime, the Genocide, a victim of which he himself was, I want  to voice the name of this great man, Charles Aznavour," Macron said.

At the same time, he added that today a family has gathered in  Yerevan, which covers all continents, which does not recognize skin  color, has no religion, has different names, lives in different  climatic conditions, has a different history, among whose members  there were many "sores" who have just begun to heal, but,  nevertheless, this diverse family is united and consolidated around  one language. According to him, this language does not belong to  someone, it belongs to everyone.

Macron stated that the Summit is taking place in a difficult period,  when major changes are taking place in the world, the world order is  broken by lies, hate propaganda, and all the norms and principles  around which countries have been consolidated for dozens of years are  no longer valid, issues related to the separation of the concepts of  man-woman are attacked on all continents.

The French President believes that in this situation, the OIF can  only act and create aimed at sobering everyone and only appeals to  sobering will be voiced at its platforms. He stated that there are 84  states in the OIF, but there is not a single country that would  dictate its will to others, which would dictate the principles of  democracy to others. "I mean myself by saying these words, since  France has often used to do this," the Head of France said.

The French leader stressed that Francophonie is an open and universal  platform, where efforts can be united to promote common human  principles and rights and on which fight for human rights can be  carried out.  According to him, Francophonie should be feminist. He  stressed the importance of promoting French throughout the  organization's territory, in this connection recalling that about 700  million people would soon be speaking in French.

In conclusion, he noted that 15 days ago he talked with Charles  Aznavour, and he was inspired, he was planning a tour in Tokyo, and  was looking forward to a trip to Yerevan. "Since it was to be his one  more meeting with Armenia and French, his first language was Armenian  and the second Georgian, but today there is not a single person in  France who would not say that he was the best speaker of French. This  should be our goal - the promotion of our language throughout the  world. And we still have a lot to do, " Macron concluded.
