Candidate for mayor of Yerevan from the "Luys" bloc at the elections  to the Council of Elders of Yerevan voted for fair and efficient  management of the capital of Armenia

ArmInfo. Candidate for Mayors of Yerevan from the "Luys" bloc, Justice Minister Artak Zeynalian voted for the fair and efficient management of the Armenian  capital at the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan. He  stated this to journalists on September 23 after the voting  procedure.

According to the candidate, he voted for the eternity of the city.  Zeynalian stressed that unlike the previous elections, there is no  former atmosphere of bribes, the use of administrative resources and  leverage. At the same time, regardless of the outcome of the vote, he  opposes dividing lines and creates an atmosphere of hostility. "There  must be a healthy criticism and a healthy opposition," the candidate  said. In this context, he declined to comment on the election  results. "There are 8 hours left before the voting is over, and my  point of view can affect the results of the elections, therefore I  will refrain from statements," he said. On the question, will the  coalition with My Step (Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan) block, the  Minister of Justice said that everything depends on the results of  the voting.

Zeynalyan was asked how he assesses yesterday's police searches in  one of the headquarters of Prosperous Armenia. The minister said he  did not know in detail about the incident, he just managed to read  the headline in one of the media with the commentary of the police  chief Valery Osipyan. Judging by the title, the police did not do  anything illegal.

The need for early elections arose after the former mayor of the  city, Taron Margaryan, resigned. After the Council of Elders could  not elect a new mayor, the government of the Republic of Armenia  terminated the powers of the members of the Council. For the conduct  of elections from 08.00 all 475 polling stations were opened. Voting  will last until 20.00. There are four blocs and eight parties in the  elections. According to the results of the vote, the first number of  the list of political force, which received more than 50% of the  vote, automatically becomes the mayor of the capital of Armenia. If  none of the political forces has won more than 50% of the votes, all  factions included in the Council of Elders have the right to nominate  their candidate, who must be elected by a majority vote of the  members of the Council, consisting of 65 members. The party's  candidate is Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovhannisyan.
