Armenian PM postponed his visit to US in order to vote in elections  to Yerevan Council of Elders on September 23

ArmInfo.Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan postponed his visit to the United States in the framework of participation in the UN General Assembly session in  order to vote in the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan on  September 23, he stated this on September 18 live on Facebook on his  way from Artsakh to Yerevan.

The Prime Minister once again stressed that the upcoming elections to  the Council of Elders are of extremely political importance. He  greeted Hayk Marutyan - the candidate from the "My step" bloc to the  post of the capital's mayor, who, he said, is able to solve city  problems. "These are the first elections after the velvet revolution  and for our political team the voice of every voter is extremely  important," he said, urging everyone to take part in the elections on  September 23.

According to the head of the Armenian government, in order to  emphasize the importance of each voice, he decided to postpone his  visit to the United States. "I have to go to New York to attend the  session of the UN General Assembly, I was told all the time that the  schedule is such that the departure should have been scheduled for  September 21 or 22. I put everything off for voting at the elections  to the Council of Elders of Yerevan, I am planning to vote on the  morning of September 23 and then leave for New York, "Pashinyan said.

He called on Yerevan residents to follow his example, to come to the  polling stations and vote for the "My step" bloc and his candidate  for the mayor's post - "for the future, for the revolution, for the  victory and for a free and happy Armenia." To note, the 73rd session  of the UN General Assembly opens in New York on September 18th. The  high- level meetings will begin on 24 September.  Back in late July,  it was reported that there was an intention to organize a meeting  between the leaders of Armenia and the United States, Nikol Pashinyan  and Donald Trump. Tigran Balayan, Spokesman of the Ministry of  Foreign Affairs of Armenia, stated at the press conference: "We  confirm Pashinyan's participation at the UN General Assembly in New  York in September this year, within which he will hold a number of  bilateral meetings, possibly with Trump also," said Balayan, adding  that he can not yet say if there is a final agreement on the  Pashinyan-Trump meeting.

Earlier, the US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stressed that the  possibility of organizing a Trump- Pashinyan meeting on the sidelines  of the UN General Assembly is being considered. "However, the  schedules of the two leaders are very busy, and their administrations  are trying to find a window for the meeting," the diplomat said,  stressing that so far there has been no agreement on the meeting. The  Congressional Group on Armenia sent a letter to US President Donald  Trump with an appeal to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan.
