


ArmInfo. Members of the parliamentary friendship group Armenia- Iran met on August 30 with the deputies of the Mejlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This was reported by the press service of the National Assembly.
According to the source, the head of the group Vahram Baghdasaryan noted the importance of active and productive cooperation of parliamentary friendship groups, and also stressed the importance of mutual visits. He noted that to date the Armenian-Iranian relations are at a very high level and new opportunities for their deepening and development have been created.
In turn, the head of the Iran-Armenia friendship group Ramezan Ali Sobganfari noted that the Armenian- Iranian cultural, political and historical ties date back to the depths of the centuries. The MP also assessed the high level of bilateral interstate political relations.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of expanding the Armenian-Iranian cooperation, particularly in the economic, energy, security, education, sports and tourism spheres.
The interlocutors also touched upon the results of the visit of the representatives of the Armenia-Iran friendship group to Iran in February 2018 and the agreements reached during the visit. Issues related to the effective use of the opportunities provided by the Free Economic Zone in Meghri were also discussed. The sides stressed that the bilateral trade turnover is not sufficient in comparison with the existing potential, and it needs to be developed.
