The candidacy of five candidates for position of members of  Constitutional Court submitted to apparatus of Armenian President

ArmInfo. The candidacy of five candidates for the position of members of the Constitutional Court is submitted to the office of the President of Armenia.

According to the press service of the RA President's Office, all five  applicants were submitted for consideration to the temporary  parliamentary working group, after which, according to the schedule,  they had individual talks between members of the working group and  the Constitutional Court. After the conversations, according to the  established procedure, the working group in a closed envelope  presented its opinion on each of the applicants. The mentioned  opinions are submitted to the RA President who, after summarizing,  will submit the candidates for approval to the RA National Assembly.

Taking into account the fact that not all applicants have agreed to  announce their names, the RA President's apparatus refrains from  publishing their names.

Earlier, the country's parliament twice rejected the candidatures of  judges of the Constitutional Court, proposed by the General Meeting  of Judges. In particular, the procedure for nominating candidates did  not suit the deputies. Thus, on May 4, the National Assembly rejected  the candidacy of adviser to Artsakh President Emil Babayan, and on  June 13 the similar fate was suffered by the judge of the Criminal  Cases Chamber of the RA Court of Cassation Elizaveta Danielyan.  According to the Constitution of Armenia, the Constitutional Court  judges elect the National Assembly by at least three fifths of the  total number of deputies for a period of twelve years. The  Constitutional Court consists of nine judges, three of whom are  elected on the proposal of the President of the Republic, three - the  government and three - on the proposal of the General Meeting of  Judges. The judges of the Constitutional Court are in office until  the 70th birthday.
