Viktor Soghomonyan: Robert Kocharyan is ready to give testimony  within the case of March 1, 2008, he more than anyone else is  interested in impartial investigation

Robert Kocharyan is ready to give testimony within the case of March 1, 2008, he more than anyone else is interested in its impartial investigation, as  throughout the years this issue is being speculated and the second  president himself was brought into discredit, Head of Armenia's  second president Robert Kocharyan's Office Viktor Soghomonyan stated  in an interview to Joghovurd newspaper. 

According to him, if the matter concerns the legal side of the issue,  Kocharyan is ready to provide every assistance to this process, and  he has nothing to fear. "However, yesterday's statement by the  Special Investigative Committee about allegedly new circumstances  discovered in the case and the accusations that followed it give the  issue not the legal but rather political impetus." First, the  statement of the Committee contains practically no legal language, it  seems that this text is written either in the office of a party, or  in the editorial office of the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper (the  newspaper is headed by the wife of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan,  Anna Hakobyan ed. note). The Investigative Committee, instead of  referring to laws and decisions of state structures, uses imaginative  wording and bring accusations on its basis. For instance, instead of  reffering to the decision of the Central Electoral Commission the  authors of the text refer to their own impressions and emotions,  which, of course, depresses and puts serious threats to the  statehood. I am glad that a lot of authoritative lawyers and l?gal  scholars turned to this issue, "Soghomonyan said, expressing concern  that an attempt is being made to discredit "one of the outstanding  Armenian militaries "who served  his Homeland for 26 years.

To note yesterday within the case of March 1, 2008, charges were put  against Mikael Harutyunyan, who held the position of defense minister  of RA in those years. He is charged with an attempt to overthrow the  constitutional system by involving the army in politics. Harutyunyan  was put on the wanted list, an arrest was chosen as a preventive  measure. It should be noted that the Investigative Service has also  invited as witness the second president Robert Kocharyan, who,  however, is abroad and Seyran Ohanyan who in those years held the  post of deputy defense minister, later becoming defense minister.  To  recall, on March 1, 2008, as a result of the clashes between the law  enforcers and citizens protesting against the results of the  presidential elections, in which the victory was won by Serzh  Sargsyan, 10 people were killed.
