Latvian parliament unanimously voted for ratification of Armenia-EU  comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement

ArmInfo. The Parliament of Latvia  in the first reading unanimously voted for the ratification of the  Armenia-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement.

On November 24, 2017, during the Eastern Partnership summit in  Brussels, Armenia and the European Union signed an agreement on a  comprehensive and expanded partnership. On January 12, Estonia became  the first EU country to ratify this Agreement.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated at the press  conference following the results of 2017 that Armenia will make  efforts to ratify the Agreement until April and hopes that the  countries entering into the EU will also approve this document.  However, the EU's governing bodies said that after the ratification  of the Agreement in Armenia, it can temporarily enter into force, so  as not to wait for its ratification in the EU. Also on March 19 at a  press conference the head of the standing parliamentary commission on  external relations Armen Ashotyan noted that the agreement between  Armenia and the EU is likely to be ratified by Armenia during the  next four-day session in Parliament. It is expected that the whole  process of ratification of the document will end before the end of  2018.
