International experts have identified a number of violations in the  trial of the case "Sasna Tsrer"

ArmInfo. In Yerevan, the  report "On the Glass Wall: The Right to Fair Justice in the Sasna  Tsrer" case, prepared as a result of the collection of facts from the  platform of "Civil Solidarity", was presented.

Responsible for the research of the Helsinki Foundation for Human  Rights, Joanna Smetek, presenting the report, said that during the  collection of facts, a number of violations were revealed. She  informed that the mission was from 4 countries (Poland, Russia,  Ukraine and Georgia) consisting of 5 people, and the event was held  in September 2017.

Speaking about the method of gathering facts, Smeatek said that there  were conducted 33 interviews, in which 45 people took part - lawyers,  representatives of authorities, civil society and journalists.  According to her, during the interview, questions were raised  regarding justice in Armenia, the rule of law, and the protection of  human rights.

The international expert said that during the examination of the  materials on the case of the Sasna Tsrer group, violations were  found, such as the search of lawyers and deliberate obstruction of  their professional activities, violation of the right to justice, the  right to hear, and the application of sanctions to lawyers. "In the  course of studying the facts, we were confronted with the fact that  there is no clear distinction between such concepts as human search  and security screening in Armenia.We do not mind that lawyers are  examined, but we are against discrimination that took place during  court cases, which was expressed in the fact that some were being  examined, others were not, and it was not clear what criteria the  security officers were guided in. Moreover, we believe that there  should be a clear list of what is permitted to be carried into the  meeting hall so as not to collide We were witnesses of what we were  witnessing in the Sasna Tsrer case:  the delay in the submission of  documents on the case to lawyers, violation of the rights of defense  witnesses, the use of an unprecedented number of sanctions against  lawyers, and we are deeply convinced that we must ensure that  appropriate institutional mechanisms that allow lawyers to perform  their professional activities, "concluded Smetek.
