The head of the RPA faction: Serzh Sargsyan did not pretend and  hardly now claims to be the prime minister of Armenia

ArmInfo. President Serzh Sargsyan did not pretend and hardly now claims to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. Vahram Baghdasaryan, the head of  the Republican faction, expressed such confidence in the conversation with journalists.

At the same time, he assured that   RPA has not yet formally  discussed either the candidacy of the future prime minister or the  president. Touching upon the recent statements of RPA representatives  about Serzh Sargsyan's indispensability as prime minister,  Baghdasaryan noted that these are private opinions, reiterating that  there is as yet no official position of the RPA on personnel issues. 

"The fact that the RPA representatives see Serzh Sargsyan as prime  minister since 2018 is not surprising, he is the leader of the party,  and he is treated positively," the head of the RPA faction said.

Replying to the question where he personally sees Serzh Sargsyan  after the expiration of his presidential term, Baghdasaryan said: "I  personally see him as the leader of the RPA, everything else is  already derived from this." Speaking about the candidacy of Karen  Karapetyan, the deputy noted: "If we were not sure of its merits, we  would not have nominated him for the post of prime minister." It  should be noted that Serzh Sargsyan himself assured in his last  interview that he has not yet determined his political plans.

 Earlier, he promised not to claim the post of prime minister after  the expiration of his presidential term, if a draft constitutional  reform is held at the referendum. Subsequently, Sargsyan stated that  he sees himself in the sphere of security. Concerning the desire of  Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and after 2018 to lead the cabinet,  the president considered him healthy, on the whole positively  evaluated the activity of Karapetyan's cabinet.

Nevertheless, RPA representatives recently declare one after another  that Serzh Sargsyan is the best candidate for the post of prime  minister after her full transition to a parliamentary form of  government. And the RPA spokesman, vice speaker of the parliament  Eduard Sharmazanov, in a conversation with the correspondent of  ArmInfo, dismissing the remark that Sargsyan promised not to claim  the prime minister's chair in the event of passing the draft of  constitutional reforms, said: "Then there were other realities, now  others. History knows many cases when, as a result of changing  political realities, the plans of political figures also changed. "
