The 30th meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the National Assembly of Armenia and the Federal Council of Russian Federation was held

ArmInfo. The 30th meeting of the  Interparliamentary Commission (IPC) on cooperation between the  National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly  of the Russian Federation was held at the National Assembly of  Armenia on November 2. The meeting was chaired by Artashes Geghamyan  and Nikolai Ryzhkov.

According to the press service of the Parliament, in their welcoming  speech, the co-chairs of the IPC stressed that the allied relations  of the two countries are based on friendship and centuries-old  traditions.  Noting the special place of the commission in the  development of relations between Armenia and Russia, they expressed  hope that the discussions will become an additional impetus in  solving various issues.

In the first part of the meeting the topic "Development of mutually  beneficial integration processes in the field of economy in pursuance  of President Vladimir Putin's address to the Federal Assembly and  President Serzh Sargsyan's Address to the National Assembly of  Armenia" was discussed. Minister of Economic Development and  Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan addressed the  subject from Armenia, Rafael Abrahamyan, Director of the Department  for Economic Cooperation with the CIS Countries and the Development  of Eurasian Integration of the Ministry of Economic Development of  Russia, from Russia.

The speakers turned to the opportunities provided by the treaty and  legal framework to expand economic cooperation between the two  countries. Priorities of economic development, steps taken in  investment policy, industry, tourism, agriculture, scientific and  technical and a number of other spheres, the growth of trade between  the two countries after accession to the EAEU and the opportunities  provided by the EAEU for the revival of the economy are presented.

In the second part of the session, the deputies touched upon the  problems of RA citizens residing in the Russian Federation, the sale  of arms to Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan, strengthening of ties between  regions, cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural fields, and  information technologies. Armenian and Russian delegates stressed the  essential role of the IPC in expanding stable ties between the two  countries.

Attention is drawn to the prospects of development of economic  cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian  Federation. Other issues related to the work of the commission were  also discussed.  The next IPC meeting will be held in Murmansk.  Recommendations are given for the development of a working plan for  the formation of the agenda for the forthcoming meeting. At the end  of the meeting, Geghamyan and Ryzhkov signed a protocol.

After the end of the meeting, the co-chairs of the Interparliamentary  Commission on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian  Federation Geghamyan and N.Ryzhkov presented to journalists the range  of issues discussed at the meeting.
