Sargsyan: we are going for negotiating, or for shooting - we are ready for both

This was announced on October 24 by the President of  Armenia Serzh Sargsyan at the entrance to the lecture at the National  Defense University of Defense, giving an assessment of the strategic  situation being formed around Armenia.

According to him, serious military-political processes unfold very  close to the Armenian borders, which are closely watched in Armenia.  "I have recently presented my principled approaches to the  Nagorno-Karabakh problem from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly,  and now I do not see the need to repeat here what I said there, but I  want to emphasize a few circumstances: First, at this stage we do not  have the goal in Artsakh to solve or set military tasks.The task of  protecting the civilian population of Artsakh from the indiscriminate  enemy fire we have already decided and decided long ago.The peaceful  settlement of the problem, among other conditions, must absolutely  eliminate any military threat in Artsakh elations peaceful population  of Artsakh ", - said the head of Armenia.

Secondly, according to Sargsyan, the Karabakh conflict does not  really have a military solution.  "Consequently, it is impossible  with one hand to  shoot, and  on another - to negotiate in order to  find this solution. Or we are negotiating, or shooting. We are ready  for both. Negotiations should take place in the conditions of mutual  trust, formed due to the silence of weapons. Given a short-term  tactical or propaganda advantage, neither side decides for itself any  significant issue. On the contrary, provocations make serious  negotiations impossible. We did not carry out revenge and collective  punishment, we do not and will not carry out. However, every military  loss will trigger a counter-action directed against the enemy's  military side, "the Armenian leader stressed.

According to him, ideology is the third group of accents. The  Armenian leader noted that the Karabakh conflict is not of an ethnic  or religious nature. According to Sargsyan, Armenia has no problem  either with the Azerbaijani people, or even more so with the Muslim  religion. "We are sure that the Azerbaijani people want peace, we  just need to direct this desire in the right direction." From the  very first day of the Artsakh liberation movement, we did everything  within the framework of the law in force at that time and within the  framework of international law. actions in accordance with the then  current law of the USSR and international law.I do not know how much  we should be grateful to our senior comrades who could instill in us  this correct idea.This is for this reason we clearly say that the  problem of Nagorno-Karabakh, the conflict differs from all conflicts  in the territory of the former Soviet Union, not only because the  origins of these conflicts are different, but primarily because  everything is done in accordance with law and law, " stated the head  of Armenia.
