Armenia intends to discuss prospective cooperation projects with  Tirkmenistan

ArmInfo.Armenia intends to discuss with Tirkmenistan the prospective cooperation projects, which were discussed during the 8th Armenian-Turkmen intergovernmental  commission meeting on March 14 in Yerevan. The Ministry of Energy  Infrastructures and Natural Recourses of Armenia informed.    

According to the source, the Commission Co-chairmen held the meeting,  the Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the  Republic of Armenia Ashot Manukyan and the Minister of Energy of  Turkmenistan Charimirat Purchekov. In his statement, the Armenian  Minister noted the importance of deepening of the Armenian-Turkmen  trade and economic relation, and also the possibility of its  enlargement. "The 8th Armenian-Turkmen intergovernmental commission  meeting once again confirms the intentions of the sides and further  deepening of the relation between the states. We intend to implement  not only the planned projects but also discuss the prospective  programs. I am sure that we will succeed to use the existing  potential in its full volume in the favor of our countries and  nations", said Ashot Manukyan.

To note, the agenda of the 8th Armenian-Turkmen intergovernmental  commission includes numerous questions in various sectors. In  particular, the questions related to cooperation prospects in such  sectors like legal framework, fuel and energy complex, agriculture,  education and science and culture were discussed.  The work done by  the commission after the previous meeting will be also analyzed. By  the end of the work a protocol will be signed.     

As the head of the Armenian Delegation on negotiations in Ashgabat on  Turkmen gas export establishment, the Deputy Minister of the Energy  Infrastructure and Natural Resources Hayk Harutyunyan told ArmInfo  earlier, the negotiations on "most optimal ways" of gas supply to  Armenia is held with all regional states.  Earlier Ashgabat has  already offered Tehran to increase the current gas swap volume for  Armenia and Azerbaijan to 15million cubic meter per day. However,  according to Harutyunyan, in case of Armenia, it is about much lesser  volumes, because of the throughput of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline  (6million cubic meter per day). On January 13 the Prime Minister of  Armenia Karen Karapetyan answered to ArmInfo's question about the  works on swap schemes of gas supplies to Armenia. According to him  "In this statement there are some inaccuracies, but the fact is the  talks are being done. When there will be the results, they will be  presented to the society," the Deputy Minister noted.  On January 13  during the press-conference in Yerevan, answering the question of  ArmInfo, the Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan stated that  Armenian Government works on various systems of swap for gas delivery  to the Republic.  According to Prime-Minister swap gas supplies to  Armenia were discussed with the Ambassadors of Iran and Turkmenistan  on the first working day of 2017. To recall the only way of natural  gas delivery from Russia to Armenia via Georgian territory  permanently becomes the topic of discussions in the context of  development of relations between Moscow and Tbilisi. However, it is  non-competitive for today, as the second gas- pipe from Iran cannot  afford the necessary extents. According to ArmInfo's analysts  it is  quite possible that Armenia tends to regulate swap deliveries of  Turkmen gas via Iran territory. It is about the gas supplies from  Iran on one side, which , in its  turn , will import the same volumes  from Armenia on other sides.
