The expert: Reaching concordance  regarding the transit corridors  depends not only on Moscow and Tbilisi

ArmInfo. Reachin concordance in respect to the issue of new transport corridors opening depend not only on Moscow and Tbilisi, Manvel Sargsyan, the Director of Armenian Center of Srategic and National Studies  told ArmInfo. 

On February 8 Grigori Karasin, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs  of Russia  stated that for opening the new transit corridor through  Georgia is one more step needed - the most difficult and complicated  one, accentuating that not only Georgia and Russia are interested in  the implementation of 2011 agreements, but also Armenia. 

The Agreement of November 9, 2011 assumes the trade corridors   leading from Russia to Georgia  passing through Abkhazia and Southern  Ossetia within the participation of inrternational mediators, who  will control and mark the cargo flows. 

 "International processes have changed their nature due to the  election of the USA new  President.  Considering this, some projects  available by now will loose their significance. And many countries  try  to re-estimate their policy in respect to new conditions,   sometimes holding back off usual approaches," he mentioned.  

The expert supposed that Georgia today tries to implement more  balanced policy, because the fact it relied only on western states  caused many problems for the country, and that is obvious.  Of  course, Russia would not deny this situation and  it will suggest its  projects. But the matter if Russia and Georgia could reach any  concordance depends not only on Moscow or Tbilisi. Azerbaijanis and  Turks could also state their positions," he summarized. 

Karasin's Prague meeting  with Georgian Special representative on  communication with Moscow Zurab Abashidze was  finished  by taking a  decision on rehabilitation of the Agreement on Trade Corridors  (2011). Particularly, Karasin stated the serious progress in practice  aspect"
